Self Advocacy Links
A self-advocate is somebody who has a disability and speaks up for themselves.
Self Advocates as Leaders(SAAL) is an organization created to help people with developmental disabilities become strong leaders and to help make life better for people with disabilities everywhere in Oregon.
The RIOT! is about self-advocacy. They offer a newsletter, a blog where self-advocates can share opinions, an online art gallery, toolkits, games and services to help individuals become stronger self-advocates. They are serious about self-advocacy issues, but also want to make you laugh and feel good about life.
Mouth Magazine is a bi-monthly disability rights magazine whose readers' only special needs are for human rights and straight talk.

Employment First Employment is recognized as key to full citizenship for Oregonians with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. A job provides a structure to the day, a paycheck that can be used for purchasing goods and services, an identity as a contributing member of the community, and an increase in personal self-esteem. The present level of unemployment for adults with developmental disabilities in Oregon, at 80%, is unacceptable.

Disability Rights Oregon As Oregon’s designated Protection & Advocacy (P&A) System for more than 30 years, DRO has a unique role: to uphold the legal rights of people with disabilities.
Arc of Oregon, together with its network of members and affiliated chapters, advocates for the rights and full community participation of all children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They also opperate the Oregon Special Needs Trust and GAPs (Guardianship, Advocacy & Planning Services)
Oregon Council on Developmental Disabilities works to create change that improves the lives of Oregonians with developmental disabilities.
Oregon DD Coalition strives to promote quality service and supports which respectfully further the rights, equality, justice, and inclusion for all Oregonians with developmental disabilities and their families.
Americans with Disabilities Act gives civil rights protections to individuals with disabilities similar to those provided to individuals on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, age, and religion. It guarantees equal opportunity for individuals with disabilities in public accommodations, employment, transportation, State and local government services, and telecommunications.
Northwest ADA Center This site is for an agency committed to the process of changing our culture to be user friendly to disability and the effect the variety of health conditions can have on society.
FACT - Family and Community Together is an organization for individuals and their families experiencing disability, working collaboratively to facilitate positive change in policies, systems and attitudes, through family support, advocacy and partnerships.

Oregon Technical Assistance Corporation promotes full participation in community life for individuals with disabilities, seniors and their families through the delivery of training, technical assistance and related services.
