PROVIDERS
Support Service Brokerages are not "providers" of service in the traditional sense. Instead of providing the services directly to the Customer, Brokerages are responsible for linking them with qualified provider to help them achieve their Individual Support Plan goals. Wherever possible, the Customer will use natural supports already available within the community. However, when necessary, the Customer may use Support Service funds to purchase these supports from a qualified provider.
The Customer decides from who (s)he would like to receive service. The provider of the service must meet a strict criteria of qualifications in order to be paid with Support Service dollars to perform the supports.
The types of providers include:
- Domestic Employees - individuals directly employed by the Customer. Joined together by a job description, an employer/employee relationship exists between the two entities.
- Independent Contractors - individuals who are self-employed and meet appropriate state and federal guidelines to provide such services. The customer and contractor are joined together by a contract.
- Provider Organizations - private organizations that are licensed by the Department of Human Services-Seniors and People with Disabilities Division. These organizations hold a certificate from the State of Oregon and only serve people with developmental disabilities. The Customer and Provider Organization are joined together by a contract.
- General Businesses - organizations who serve the general public, offering the same services to people with and without developmental disabilities.
All providers are bound by Oregon Administrative Rules and must perform services within the scope of the Department-published Rate Ranges.
