EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Resource Connections of Oregon is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting individuals with developmental disabilities to obtain and maintain support---including fiscal intermediary services---needed to live in their homes.   RCO is headquartered in Salem, Oregon, and provides services primarily in the mid-Willamette Valley under contract with the State of Oregon’s Department of Human Services.  Our customer base is relatively stable, with as many as 720 anticipated in the next fiscal year.

RCO’s staff and Board of Directors seek candidates for Executive Director, a position expected to become available July 1, 2012, with retirement of the current Executive Director.  The position is full time.  The salary is negotiable within a range of $63,000 to $68,000 annually, with starting salary based on the interviewers’ assessment of qualifications. 

The successful candidate must:

  • Have at least 6 years experience in the field of developmental disabilities, social services, mental health, or related field OR a bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of experience in these fields. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of standard business practices, fiscal management, personnel management and budget development and monitoring.
  • Thoroughly understand Oregon’s service delivery system for supporting persons with developmental (and intellectual) disabilities and their families—including the administrative and political context in which it exists.

Preference will be given to candidates with a combination of education, experience, and references indicating:

  • Longstanding personal and professional focus on self-determination and full participation of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities at home and in the life of the community.  
  • An appropriate scope of management experience, internal and professional leadership in that capacity, ability to innovate and adapt under changing fiscal climates, excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge gained directly through providing residential, work, or support services for individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities in Oregon, functional application of Oregon Administrative Rules related to the services, and ability to foster and maintain professional partnerships.

In addition, the successful candidate must:

  • Be willing to work evening or weekend hours, as needed.
  • Have access to transportation for extensive local and occasional in-state travel.
  • Be able to use up-to-date technology for work and communication.
  • Be able to pass a criminal history record review applicable to brokerage services provided under contract with the Oregon Department of Human Services.
